Do I need my exact birth time?

Yes — Vedic astrology depends on your Ascendant (Lagna), which changes roughly every two hours. The closer to your real birth time, the more accurate the chart. If you only know the day, the Moon-based reading still works, but the Ascendant-based houses do not.
